I just wanted to touch on implementing Microsoft SQL 2005 Reporting Services on for use with the Goldmine CRM application.

I am currently using GM 6.7 with a SQL 2005 back-end that was previously migrated from a SQL 2000 environment. When upgrading from SQL 2000 to 2005, Goldmine 6.7 requires the SQL 2000 Server Tools installed and also requires that the database is in Compatibility mode 80. Also, a big mistake is enabling the Auto-Creation of SQL Statistics… I had to roll back to the old server as the Goldmine database indexes couldn’t handle the auto-create Statistics.

The SQL 2005 Reporting Services don’t work with Goldmine 6.7 for two reasons.

Firstly, the Reporting Services require the use of Database Diagrams. Sadly, you can’t enable and configure the Database Diagrams while the database is in Compatibility Mode 80.
Secondly, Frontrange don’t officially support Reporting Services. In fact – they have only officially started to support Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for the Enterprise edition of Goldmine 7.+

Unfortunately you will need to stick with Crystal.

If you know of any other way to get the Reporting Services to work with Goldmine 6.7 feel free to let me know.
